The latest tweets from @SteamStatus. Steam is the biggest gaming platform in the world. Often millions of users are online at the same time. Because Steam (or it's operator Valve) doesn't provide an official way to check the health of its platform, steamstatus.io gives you a simple overview of the current network status. Long story short, a guy sent me a link to my guide, which was copy-pasted to some mediocre site. Then noticed that 'admin' of this site posts about 2 guides per day and all of them are just copies of others' Steam works (and actually not only Steam).

• Why is Steam down?

  If it is a Tuesday at around 16:00 Pacific time then it is probably scheduled maintenance, otherwise I don't know.

• What if I get the message 'The Steam servers are currently down for routine maintenance.' but it isn't Tuesday?

  This is a message that the Steam client gives whenever it can connect to the internet but can't connect to Steam's servers. It doesn't mean there is currently routine maintenance being performed.

• When will it be back?

  Most downtime is less than 10 minutes.

• Why is maintenance scheduled during US evenings?

  Steam is a worldwide service and if you look at Steam’s player statistics page you’ll see that peak time for the service is during the European evening, and at 16:00 Pacific time the user numbers are significantly lower. Additionally Valve is located in the Pacific timezone and it sensible to do all routine maintenance during business hours so they can have their employees able to respond quickly if something goes wrong. Is Steam Down Again

STEAMID I/O: convert steamIDs, steamID64s, steamID3s, customURLs and find Steam Community profiles.

steamIDs

A steamID is a unique identifier used to identify a Steam account. A steamID can be converted to the newer steamID3 and to a steamID64, sometimes referred to as community ID or friendID. With this steamID64, a user's Steam community page can be found. A customURL is an optional, more personalised identifier to look up a user's Steam Community page with.

signing in

Signing in through Steam gives you the following options and features:

• show/hide a Steam user's avatar
• show/hide a Steam user's location in an embedded OpenStreetMaps frame
• export of list output for use in SourceBans
• enable/disable autofocus on the input form field
• post feedback

Signing in through Steam is entirely safe. Only your community id is passed on to STEAMID I/O, for which a profile will be created. In this profile you can set said options to your liking.

If you no longer wish to keep your profile, you may simply stop using it or request to having it removed.
